Highlands Adult and Community Education are pleased to launch over 140 Leisure Learning courses for the Spring Term, commencing in January 2018.
Our Adult and Community Education team have been busy working with our wonderfully talented tutors to bring you over 160 courses, including 40 brand new ones for our Spring 2018 term. Whether you’re new to Leisure Learning or a seasoned learner at Highlands, you’ll be sure to find something inspiring, new and interesting to explore.

What exciting courses can I expect for the New Year?
Sushi School for Beginners: Two courses running on Monday 15th January and Monday 19th February. In association with Bento Sushi, this four-week sushi school will teach you how to roll various types of sushi. Learn from an expert to cook and season the perfect rice and prepare ingredients for both sushi and sashimi, then indulge in your own creations! Students will need to bring their own sushi mat and ingredients each week.
Foundation Tai Chi: Tuesday 16th January. This nine-week introductory class will teach you the fundamentals of Tai Chi. The oldest known style was developed primarily as a martial art; however, it can be practiced purely for its health benefits.
Beginners Nutrition: Two courses running on Thursday 16th January and Wednesday 21 February. New Year, new start to learn about nutrition. This four-week course will explore what the body needs to stay healthy, our digestive system, the comparison between the difference of processed and home cooked foods, and making your own food and drink out of raw ingredients.
Pattern Cutting – Dressmaking Design to Make a Skirt: This four-week course is perfect for anyone who loves fashion and has some sewing knowledge. You will cover basic pattern-cutting skills to design and construct a skirt in your size and style, including manipulating your pattern to make a verity of styles and shapes.
