- Technicians and Support Staff in Further and Adult Education
- Part-time Teachers in Further and Adult Education
What are the entry requirements for the course?
- Candidates must be considering a subject for delivery and be aiming to achieve/or have achieved a qualification and/or have experience in their subject/skill at the appropriate level.
- Candidates need to be capable of working at a minimum of Level 2 numeracy and literacy (GCSE grade C). Therefore, please expect to complete a screening process prior to joining the course.
What will I study on this course?
- The Level 3 Award is an introduction to teaching that will provide an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training. The qualification provides an introduction on how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching/training sessions and how to assess and record decisions.
- Its purpose is to help anyone in a teaching or training role to gain an understanding of the principles and methods of learning and teaching; to apply these to improve and develop themselves as effective practitioners and also to enable them to explore and make use of their personal qualities. The course is practical and participatory.
How long is this course?
This is a 17-week course with sessions running on:
Tuesday evening: 6.00pm – 9.00pm
Start date: Tuesday 4th February 2025 End date: Tuesday 24th June 2025
OR
Thursday morning: 09:00 – 12:00
Start date: Thursday 5th February 2025 End date: Thursday 26th June 2025
It is important to attend all sessions.
What will I study on this course?

City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training (12 credits).

Ideally candidates will either be working and have, or wish to have, some responsibility for training colleagues in the workplace.
How is the course assessed?
To achieve the qualification, candidates must successfully complete both the theory and practical assignments covering all units. This includes two micro teaching sessions, producing planning and evaluation documents.

This course can lead on to:
City & Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.
Assessment and Quality Assurance Qualifications.
