Jersey International Future Skills Framework (JIFS)
The Jersey International Future Skills Tutorial Programme (JIFS) is designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge that will support their academic success and personal development throughout the academic year. This course focuses on fostering habits, attitudes, and behaviours that contribute to students becoming confident and well-prepared young adults, ready to progress to their next steps in life, whether that be further education, employment, or other positive destinations.
The framework benchmarks OECD 2030 future learning competencies, incorporating and addressing articles from UNICEF’s Rights Respecting school program and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Key Areas Covered:
- Sustainability and Global Citizenship: Understanding environmental responsibility and global issues.
- Personal Development and Career Planning: Tools for effective study, career planning, and personal growth.
- Health and Wellbeing: Promoting physical, mental, and emotional health.
- Digital Skills: Navigating the digital world responsibly and effectively.
- Study Skills: Enhancing techniques for academic success.
Through a blend of activities, discussions, and practical applications, students will develop the competencies needed to thrive both in their current studies and in their future endeavours.
Who is this course for?
Sixth form students will complete the framework alongside existing qualifications as part of their embedded tutorial programme. Students will receive 90 minutes per week teaching and learning with their tutor, and receive 1:1 coaching to set personal goals, discuss challenges and help them achieve your full potential.
What qualification will students receive?
At the end the year students displaying positive engagement with Future Skills and with 85% attendance will receive a digital credential from City and Guilds or ILM:
JPQ students will Future Skills Foundation (bronze)
Year 1 students will receive Future Skills Professional (silver)
Year 2 students will receive Future Skills Leadership (gold)
There are no formal assessments for these qualifications, with all work and study being completed in class.
