How long is this course?
The provision runs throughout the year, and you can sign up at any time. The outcome you hope to achieve will determine how long you access the provision for.
What will I study on this course?
You will have access to four key areas to help you re-engage with further training, education or employment:
- Wellbeing and mental health support – You will be able to access a base room and well-being support; of which you will be able to engage in supportive group or 1-2-1 sessions at Highlands and off campus.
- Enrichment Activities – You will be able to access weekly activities to help you try new things and socialise.
- Employability Support – You will be able to access support from Highlands College and Skills Jersey to support you in preparing for employment. This could be CV and letter writing, interview skills and career guidance.
- English and Maths – Support to improve your English and/or Maths qualifcations
- Vocational Learning – You will be able to work towards your personal effectiveness, employability skills and try taster lessons in vocational subjects you can choose that you are interested in.
All of the above will be available in Highlands College and also Online via Microsoft Office 365 and Teams. This way you can access learning materials and staff on days you are not in college.

Improved English or Maths qualifcations.
Interpersonal, Employability and Vocational Learning that reflects our full-time courses.
Will I go out on work experience?
Once you feel ready we can support you with work experience opportunties and link with other agencies to support you.
How is the course assessed?
English and Maths qualifications are usually assessed by exams. However, we will only enter you for an exam if you feel you are ready.
What does this course lead on to?
You could apply for a full-time course in a subject you are interested in.
You could begin further training in a professional environment.
You could find employment to gain work experience.
You could volunteer to get experience working in an area the interests you.
