Who is this course for?
This Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 1 qualification offers students the opportunity to develop practical bookkeeping skills. It introduces the role of a bookkeeper and the underpinning knowledge to identify and carry out simple bookkeeping activities.

What are the entry requirements for the course?
There are no formal entry requirements and there is no need for any prior accounting nor bookkeeping knowledge. However, it is recommended that prospective candidates will already have basic skills in both numeracy and literacy prior to embarking on a course of study for this qualification.
How long is this course?
The programme is part-time, one evening session per week for 6 weeks (6.00pm-8.30pm) delivered at Digital Jersey

What will I study on this course?
Bookkeeping Fundamentals: This course introduces students to the role of a bookkeeper and simple bookkeeping techniques, while providing an understanding on why it’s important to keep accurate and up to date financial information in business. Students will learn how to identify a range of bookkeeping transactions including income, expenses, and profit and loss, as well as gaining an understanding of the benefits and risks associated with bookkeeping software and the importance of ethical behaviour.

How is the course assessed?
Students are assessed in one end-of-qualification computerised assessment. Certificates will not be issued until the assessment has been successfully completed and it can take up to six weeks before certificates are issued.
What does this course lead on to?
This qualification is designed to equip candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills for an occupational role. It also provides a solid grounding for students progressing to further AAT Level 2 qualifications.
How much will it cost?
Course fee: £286
NB: fee does not include a £45 registration fee paid directly by the learner to AAT prior to starting the course at Highlands
