Following the curriculum excellence awards, attendees of the ceremony were introduced to the five cross-college P.R.I.D.E. awards. These awards can be won by any student from any curriculum area. Worthy candidates were nominated by members of staff, with the final decision resting with members of our Senior Leadership Team.
Each award represents one of the Highlands College core values: Potential, Respect, Imagination, Diversity, and Excellence. The winners of these awards were:
Dr. C Mortlock Memorial Award for Potential: Kaidan Ferrow
Franz Schindler Award for Respect: Noah Le Moine
Highlands Award for Imagination: Libby Webster
Katarina Setubal Memorial Award for Diversity: Belle Fosse
Highlands Award for Excellence: Nicole Hunt
The awards ceremony was brought to a close by compere Simon Macdonald and students were then invited to head out the college’s main field to join their peers for the Highlands Festival of Celebration.
There was live music from student musician Jasmine Morley, as well as Hedgie and Damien Salgado – the Wonky Factory DJs. There was also a free BBQ and a wide range of activities, from sumo wrestling and a bucking bronco to a quiet game of Uno or giant Jenga. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all our Sixth Form students, and to bid farewell to those for whom their time at Highlands College has come to an end (for now!).
