Applications for the £250,000 Le Catillon Coin Hoard Grant now being accepted.
The Highlands College Foundation, charitable arm of Highlands College, is now inviting applications for the Le Catillon II Coin Hoard Grant.
Le Catillon II Coin Hoard, discovered in 2012 by local amateur metal detectorists, was acquired by the Government of Jersey in 2021 for £4.25 million, £250,000 of which was specifically allocated to the Highlands College Foundation in September 2023. The Highlands College Foundation was selected to administer this grant to help fund scientific and educational research into the hoard by staff, students and alumni of Highlands College or any third party from Jersey or overseas wishing to further investigate this historic discovery.
Applications are now being welcomed from individuals and organisations who are interested in contributing to the exploration of this historic discovery and uncovering more about Jersey’s rich past.
David Lord, Chair of the Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm: “This is a unique opportunity for researchers, educators, and enthusiasts to delve into the mysteries of the Le Catillon II Hoard. We are excited to invite applications from those who can contribute to the scientific and educational understanding of this significant historical find.”
Application forms and detailed information on how to apply for the Le Catillon II Coin Hoard Grant can be found on the Highlands Foundation official webpage at www.highlands.ac.uk/foundation. The application period is open now and works on an academic term rolling approval cycle.
Applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and submission guidelines carefully to ensure their proposals align with the Foundation’s aims.
