Who is this course for?
This course is designed for those who wish to bulid on theory L2 Beauty Qualifiactions and train in Beauty Therapy whilst working within the Industry.
Applicants will train within their Salons and attend Highlands one day per week.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
- Candidates must have full time employment within a beauty salon or spa.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade D (Grade 3-4) – to include English. There are no age restrictions on this course.
- Level 2 Beauty qualification
- For applicants who have English as a second language, ESOL classes might be required.
- All candidates must be interviewed by Highlands prior to enrolment and possible skills check.
- Personal presentation to reflect industry needs.
How long is this course?
One year part-time programme.

What will I study on this course?
Level 3 Units:
Provide electrical epilation treatments – in this unit the skills involved will be for assessing, preparing for and carrying out electrical needle epilation treatments to remove hair, using alternating current and blend techniques.
Provide body electrical treatments – in this unit you will improve body and skin condition using galvanic, electro muscle stimulator, micro- current, lymphatic drainage and micro- dermabrasion equipment. It covers the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment tailored to individual client needs.
Provide facial electrotherapy treatments – This unit is about improving face and skin condition using direct high frequency, galvanic, EMS, microcurrent and lymphatic drainage equipment. You will be required to formulate a specific course of treatments tailored to individual client needs.
Provide body electrotherapy treatments – This unit is about improving body and skin condition using electrical equipment such as galvanic, microcurrent and lymphatic drainage. You will learn how to formulate a specific course of treatments tailored to individual client needs.
Provide body massage – This unit is about the skills involved in providing body massage treatments. You will learn about the classical Swedish massage movements and will be required to adapt massage techniques to suit individual client needs. You will also learn about health, safety, hygiene and client care.
Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon – Through this unit you will develop your skills in a supervisory role focusing on health and safety within your salon. You will recognise salon hazards, carry out risk assessments and then implement the necessary actions. You will monitor and support your colleagues to ensure your salon complies with health and safety requirements. You will implement and supervise salon procedures for all aspects of salon safety and security including the need for insurance.
Intimate waxing for female clients – This unit is about removing hair from intimate areas using various waxing techniques. You will be able to consult with clients, prepare for waxing services and produce treatment plans. You will need to provide treatment advice to clients particularly around the avoidance of certain activities and home care advice.
Apply stone therapy massage – This unit is about providing hot and cold stone therapy treatments. It covers both massage and the placing of stones on the head, face and body. The ability to adapt
stone therapy treatments to individual client needs is also a requirement.
Provide Indian head massage – This unit is about the skills involved in providing Indian head massage treatment. The ability to adapt massage techniques to suit individual client needs and the environment in which the massage takes place is very important. You will also learn how to perform Indian head massage with and without the use of oils. To carry out this unit you will need to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene procedures throughout your work.
What Qualification will I gain?
VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
How is the course assessed?
Practical assessment and VTCT online examinations.
PLEASE NOTE: A £30 resit fee is applicable for each exam that is retaken
What does this course lead on to?
Career opportunities in health centres, health farms, leisure centres, beauty salons, self-employment or further study with Award in Education & Training and the TAQA Assessors qualification.
How much will it cost?
£1128 course fee which includes registration but Trackers funding is available.
Fees are non-refundable – total payable on enrolment to secure your place.
Uniform: Charcoal tunic and trousers and approx. £60 MANDATORY.
Black flat closed toed pump or all black trainers MANDATORY.
