As a governor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the vision and ethos of Highlands College. Your insights, expertise and industry knowledge will help develop and implement strategic plans that guide the college towards its long-term objectives. By actively participating in decision-making processes, you will contribute to creating an inclusive, high-quality educational environment that meets the diverse needs of students, employers, and the local community.

Responsibilities of the role can be summarised as the following:
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the college’s strategic plan and support the Principal and Senior Leadership Team in delivering quality education aligned with community needs.
- Financial Oversight: Review financial plans and monitor performance to ensure budget management complies with regulator requirements and there is an efficient allocation of resources.
- Quality Assurance: Support with the maintenance of high standards of teaching and learning by evaluating performance against national benchmarks and promoting continuous improvement in education.
- Governance and Compliance: Act as a critical friend to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring compliance with legal obligations, including safeguarding, equality and health and safety.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with various stakeholders to understand their needs, represent the college at external events and within the community, and foster partnerships with local businesses, industries and educational institutions to enhance student learning opportunities.
