University College Jersey

Whether it is down to the smaller class sizes, the excellent teaching staff, or the hard work of our students, academic achievement at University College Jersey has out performs the UK with the proportion of students gaining a first-class or upper-second class degree staying consistently above 75%.

All of our degree-level courses are internationally recognised and are delivered in partnership with UK universities: University of Sussex, University of Plymouth, and London South Bank University.

As a result of these partnerships, many of our courses have progression routes / pathways and ‘top up’ options that mean you can continue elements of your studies on the mainland for that ‘off-island’ experience if you wish.

University College Jersey offers an extended work placement on each degree pathway, providing opportunities to work with dozens of local businesses, charities and schools.

These placements offer students the chance to make important connections between their academic learning and the real world of work, develop a professional network and ensure that they have the skills and dispositions that employers desire.

With classrooms used as teaching spaces instead of lecture halls, you will enjoy a quality and personalised learning experience with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback.

It is much easier to become friends with your classmates, and your lecturers will get to know you, understand your needs, and provide the support you require to be successful in your studies.

We endeavour to enrich the student experience wherever we can through a variety of activities, starting with Freshers Week.

Our students also participate in a range of off-island study trips (London and New York), and students can volunteer to support the Ghurka Welfare trust in places like Nepal, as well as having access to high-profile visiting speakers and professional development opportunities with the Chamber of Commerce and other industry bodies.

We appreciate that for many students the transition from school to university, where you are required to study more independently, can be challenging.

This can be equally difficult for students returning to study after a break in education. In recognition of this, you are allocated a personal tutor who is your first point of contact should you find yourself struggling with your course.

Our counselling service is confidential and can be accessed to support you with those problems that life can intermittently throw at you. In addition, we also run workshops on study skills which can include notetaking, essay writing and time-management, and have drop-in sessions where you can access additional support.

For students in Jersey, the island is their campus, with easy access to nightlife, beach life, sporting clubs and associations and everything a student might expect from their university experience.

If you already live in Jersey, studying at University College Jersey means you will save money by avoiding paying for additional accommodation off-island.

If you are coming to Jersey to study from abroad, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings that the island has to offer.
