Who is this course for?
This Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 3 qualification develops existing skills and knowledge to an advanced level for anyone wishing to pursue a career in bookkeeping & finance or to progress to further study in accounting.

What are the entry requirements for the course?
AAT does not set any entry requirements for this qualification. However, for the best chance of success, students should have ideally completed the Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping. Prior attainment of other business or finance studies is essential. This course is for candidates with a good knowlege of bookkeeping and accounting.
We recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Maths. Bookkeepers and accountants work at the very heart of a business and are expected to be able to communicate information clearly and appropriately to a given audience.
How long is this course?
The programme is part-time, one Tuesday evening session per week from 6.00pm to 8.30pm for 23 weeks with 3 optional Saturday morning revision sessions from 10am to 1pm.

What will I study on this course?
This qualification comprises two mandatory units:
- Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
- Tax Processes for Businesses
A student completing this qualification will develop the skills needed for financial processes including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. They will also understand business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT) (which may be known by another name in other countries ie GST in Jersey). All of this will be learned in the context of ethical issues that a bookkeeper may encounter in their professional life.
What Qualification will I gain?
AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping (Q2022)
How is the course assessed?
Students must successfully achieve the two mandatory unit computerised assessments to achieve this qualification. These are taken at the end of each unit.
Certificates will not be issued until the assessments have been successfully completed and it can take up to six weeks before certificates are issued.
What does this course lead on to?
The bookkeeping skills developed by studying this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence and/or progress to accounting qualifications.

NB: The course fee does not include a £91 registration fee paid directly by the learner to AAT prior to starting the course at Highlands
