Who is this course for?
This course is designed for students who are intending to pursue a professional career in Construction.
It is also for people who are already working in the Construction Industry who wish to continue their studies on a part-time basis.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
- Four GCSEs in Mathematics, Science, English and one other, all at grade C or above. Or
- Advanced Craft Certificate or Level 3 Advanced Construction Award / trade qualification. Or
- Level 2 Diploma in Construction (Merit grade profile required).
How long is this course?
A two-year part-time course, commencing September 2024
Wednesday: 8.30am – 4:30pm.
Day release over two years.
What will I study on this course?
MANDATORY UNITS: Construction Principles, Construction Design, Construction Technology, Health and Safety in Construction.
SPECIALIST UNITS, THREE FROM: Surveying in Construction, Graphical Detailing in Construction, Building Regulations and Control in Construction, Building Surveying in Construction, Site Engineering for Construction, Measurement Techniques in Construction, Provision of Primary Services in Construction, Quantity Surveying.
(Specialist units delivered are subject to change at the discretion of the Lead IV for Construction).
What Qualification will I gain?
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (equivalent in size to 1.5 A Levels).
How is the course assessed?
By successful completion of external and internal assignments.
What does this course lead on to?
Successful completion of the course with at least a Merit grade profile will allow direct progression to the HNC Diploma in Construction (subject to successful interview).
