Who is this course for?
The Foundation Programme provides the relevant skills and knowledge to help prepare you to meet the demands of the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme. This is especially useful if you do not have the academic or professional experience to enter the Qualifying Programme at Part One.
The Foundation Programme is your first step on the path to a career as a governance professional or company secretary.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
No prior qualifications required. A good level of written English is recommended.
How long is this course?
This course will run for 37 weeks commencing in January 2025
All classes will run 6.00 pm – 9.00pm

What Qualification will I gain?
CGI Foundation Programme with Certificate in Offshore Finance and Administration
How is the course assessed?
The COFA modules are run as two courses:
- Offshore finance industry & Regulations and Compliance
- Trust and company administration & Investments
For each course assessment is through 2 assignments (50%) and an exam (50%)
The pass mark is 50% and the assessment is graded pass, merit, and distinction
The Foundation Programme is a level 4 programme set at first year undergraduate level. The programme is externally assessed and set and marked by CGI. The assessments take place twice a year in either November or June depending on what term you are taking the qualification.
The assessment is graded pass, merit, and distinction – students whose level of achievement is below pass will be classified as fail A, Fail B, Fail C or Fail D depending on the number of marks achieved.
The programme is assessed externally via one closed book examination that will cover content from all the modules in the syllabus.
The examination has a pass mark of 50%.
What does this course lead on to?
Upon successful completion the Foundation Programme with the Certificate in Offshore Finance you will be exempt from the Level 4 International Finance and Administration and could progress on to either the Level 5 International Finance and Administration or the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme.
These programmes are recognised by The Jersey Financial Services Commission as a Table 5 Qualification under the Trust Company Business Codes of Practice
How much will it cost?
- Course Fee: £2538.00
- If you fail the exam and re-sit it, you will be charged the exam fee plus administration at £500.
