Who is this course for?
This qualification is suitable for learners who are working within a school as a teaching assistant with children from Year 1 and up. You must be supporting small groups for English, Maths and ICT.
Learners will be provided with an in-depth understanding of the knowlege and skills required when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual support, special needs support and personal development and reflective practice.
What are the entry requirements for the course?
All applicants must be aged 18 or over at the time of application.
Learners are required to have a successful interview, written task, references and enhanced DBS clearance.
A good standard of English is required at this level of study.
Knowledge of the school environment.
Fully involved in classroom activities including English, Maths and ICT.
Learners must have access to a PC or laptop.
How long is this course?
The course runs over 20 weeks, Monday mornings, from 09:00 – 12:00. It starts on Monday September 9th 2024 with teaching sessions end on Monday February 10th 2025.
This course will take place at Highlands College Campus.
Physical attendance is compulsory, and there will be no online alternative.
What will I study on this course?
Learners will complete 16 mandatory units to gain the diploma, examples to include:
Support assessment for learning, promoting children and young people’s behaviour, understanding child and young person’s development.
What Qualification will I gain?
NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
Will I go out on work experience?
Not required.
How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed through producing a portfolio of evidence including assignments and reflections, work based assessment.
